This feels like it would have done well to have a more flexible structure. Imagine if this game focused on unlocking costumes with different abilities, then bringing those costumes between each of the stage plays to overcome obstacles/puzzles/enemies. As it stands this linear approach just looks like shallow gimmick after shallow gimmick with very little to invest you in it.

For a game that’s main demographic is clearly young kids, there is so much damn talking in the game and most of it goes by before you can even read it all. This game really feels like it should’ve had voice acting

I think it’s hilarious How at the beginning of the game the toads that came with peach to the theater get locked outside, which means throughout the entire game they’re just waiting outside. Also it annoys me so much that instead of Toadsworth coming to the theater with peach it’s just two generic toads. Like seriously what is Nintendo’s beef with Toadsworth? He hasn’t been in a new game in over a decade and he got cut from the Mario movie

It definitely felt more like a game targeted at young kids than Super Princess Peach at times (well, I was kind of a young kid when Super Princess Peach came out but still), otherwise it was a pretty okay game but not worth the 60 €. I didn't really get frame rate issues during gameplay, but I did wonder if the cutscene with the line of light to the center of the room breaking after you beat a level was slow on purpose. Doesn't really make sense in context and it was pretty embarrassing every time

this game runs near perfect on 360 and the controls almost feel better on a 360 controller but the stage animation on the stage 'vortex' gets stuck sometimes but its fine if you go quick.

Ok, Scott the Woz (Derogatory) Edit: You're welcome to dunk on SADX for being a bad port, but I don't think you're being fair in your criticism of Sonic Adventure. You can essentially play the original Dreamcast version (with the dreamcast conversion mod) but upgraded for Pc and are choosing not to do it, while playing the same 10 year-old clips of Sonic clipping through geometry, at least try to be original.

This was the first game I actually played through and I loved it!

The volcano levels are my favorite and my argument for the level you got confused on- my 8 year old self figured it out first try so I can't say I exactly sympathize or agree- although the magnum opus slide IS junk, there are actually TWO skips that let you ignore it entire- reminiscent to the mario 64 slide skip-- but even wilder imo. The blinky boss fight (Clyde caldera) is a great boss fight imo because it combines interesting platform enclosure mechanics (sizzling ground) with merciless death defying vaults over large gaps to get to the boss (although technically you could jump onto the boss head early for most of it). As for the janky final hits, I hope a remaster captures that feeling in a different way-- like imagine you have to quickly butt bounce 5 times to break a protective barrier and reach the hp bar but go too slow and you'll dive into the lava going for the 5th- obviously with visual indicators. My only gripes with the game is the underwater whale boss itself (water levels were okay and a nice breather after hard platforming but could've used in-between segments like entering an underwater cave segment or in a ship underwater as opposed to full on water levels). And for collection completionist sake, skate levels. Otherwise, the game is a gem of its time. I would definitely love to have input on a remake of this game. It would be amazing!

I completely agree with everything you said. I still don't like Sonic Heroes though. Also there are two small gripes that I have with the game, that I think could've easily improved it and gotten rid of it's "mixed reaction" status. Firstly, this game really needed a Chao garden. The Chao garden is a brilliant incentive to replay the same levels over and over again, and this game is nothing but replaying the same levels over and over again. Secondly, remove the health bars from enemies. Killing enemies is usually what ends up making these levels take so long, and is only exasperated when you die due to the slippery controls and have to kill all of the enemies again. Even more so once you realize that it'll take you longer the second time around due to being back to level 0. And if you're rushing through them, you'll probably make a mistake and have to do it a third time. I get that you need an excuse to switch to the strength character, but their wide attack radius should be enough for that already.

Honestly, most Sonic 3D games kinda suck. But this one AT LEAST captures the colorful and fun atmosphere of the 2D Sega games. Which is really cool. That's why I personally hate the adventure games. Gameplay is meh and the overall presentation is like something that an edgy 10 year old could have come up with. Heroes is technically flawed (like the rest) but the presentation is good.

What if they're waiting for the next gen switch console before they start developing LCU2? I mean for like more performance and stuff. At least I hope so because we NEED LCU2!!!!

I've beaten the game last week for nostalgic reasons and it was fun ngl. It's mostly the extra missions that can be a hazard. Team Rose and Dark are the easier ones because their extra missions are very straight forward, but Team Sonic and Chaotix were super frustrating. Otherwise, the game is not terrible but isn't great either.
